People who visited the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout during the 1950s and 1960s would remember, with affection, the world famous White Cats. This family of friendly felines lived in a ‘cattage on the roof of the Pylon Lookout, (14 steps up a ladder from the Parapet Level). Here they had their own merry-go-round, roamed the roof garden and ‘guarded a Wishing Well.
The cats belonged to Mrs Rentoul, who operated the Lookout at the time, and they soon became a popular attraction
