Whatipu
A remote Auckland west coast beach on the Northern side of the entrance to the Manukau Harbour. The name Whatipu is associated with an ancient taniwha or spiritual guardian. This evening the cliffs of Paratutai Island were catching the last of the sunlight coming from my left side. There was a strong Southwest wind blowing over my right shoulder rippling the grass as if it was water
